Latest EP Update

Posted on November 1, 2018

I am excited to say that after a very hectic summer and most of the fall, I’m finally able to get back into the studio again. I’m hoping to finish up my latest EP which I entitled “I Love To Tell The Story”, soon. There’s more info on the EP by clicking here!

I’ve just got to finish the artwork, finish recording 3 songs, master all 5 songs and get them to the disc-maker.. Well, maybe a bit longer than I thought until I can get copies ready after all. Whew…

I’m going to get out more as well to the homeless and those who are struggling in life with addictions. They are never far from my thoughts and prayers and are the ones that this ministry is so focused on getting the Good News of Jesus Christ to.

Thanks for sharing part of your day with me, God bless you and thank you for your support!

Gospel Redemption – Excerpt

Posted on May 14, 2018

Last month, I had the privilege to share a meal and some music with the Rocky Creek Senior Adults at their monthly luncheon. What a great time to be with some awesome folks. BettySue W, who is my stepmom, took out her camera and got about a minute of my song “Gospel Redemption” which I wrote about a year ago. It was on my last EP “Through that door”.

Below is the excerpt and all the lyrics are listed below the song.

Gospel Redemption
Music / Lyrics by Mike Wills

V1: Gunna share a story, it goes back in time. Gunna tell that story, it goes back in time. You see, God made man, but man he turned to sin.
V2: But God so loved the man, that He sent His Son. God so loved the man, Christ was the only one. So Jesus came and took on all my shame.
Chorus: He’s our Gospel Redemption, from God to Man. He’s our Gospel Redemption, the time is at hand. So believe today, His love is here to stay
[Lead Break]
V3: One day His enemies came with much despise. Oh they came and made up some lies. In a mock court, they sent Him to die.
V4: On that cross He died for all, and paid our price for sin. Oh yes He died and paid our price for sin. But on that 3rd day, He arose from the grave within! (Hallelujah)
[Chorus]

Over the next 3 – 6 weeks, I’m hoping to be able to get out and see some of my friends and share some of my new music with them.Posted in UncategorizedEdit

Getting In The Way!

Posted on March 20, 2018

Situational_Irony

In my professional life, I fly airplanes for a local charter company. These jets are much smaller and SLOWER than the bigger and faster Regional Jets I used to operate. I remember how frustrating it was to get behind one of these small jets. It was such an inconvenience that I would have to alter my climb or my airspeed to let that little guy have separation from my airplane. “These itty bitty birds need to get out of my way, I got to go!” I would often hear myself muttering.. Now that I’m “That Guy”, I understand just how frustrating it can be to others whom I’m in the way of as they try to go somewhere faster than me.

“Getting in the way” regarding Spiritual things though is different. It means “Seeking  a way of being intentional” in someone’s life. As Believers in Christ, we need to avail ourselves to them, to hear what they are saying and offer a message of hope. “Being reactive and just sitting back,  expecting the world to come to us”, is a weak position that most likely may never happen.  Believers  need to be out there, available and offering specific words that may just help with the most important NEWS of someone’s life.

Our hope should be one of “My life is such that they can see a difference in my walk through life and that I am approachable enough for them to trust the message I have”.

Colossians 4:5-6 says:

“5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

As you know, I use my talents and gifts that I believe were given to me by God to share the Gospel of Christ anyway that I can and anytime that I can. That means packing my gear and heading for events and places where I can sing, play and share with folks who are not likely to come to a church. After all, the church is supposed to go out to them. (Matt 28:16-20) So I get the privilege to share with homeless, Soup Kitchens and work with men who are in addiction recovery.

Of all the times I have played, preached, sang and shared, I have NEVER once regretted it. I’ve always found a way to reach out and offer someone an opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ, and you know what?, I was often the one who was ministered to!

I challenge you today that if you are a believer, ask God to provide an opportunity to share His great plan of salvation to a sick and dying world. *”Look for opportunities, Live your life with Integrity and Talk with specificity to people.”

If this is all strange to you and you want to know more, please contact me directly and allow me to share with you the great plan of salvation that God offers us!

2017 was a great year but hold on, here comes 2018!

Posted on December 21, 2017

Merry Christmas, here’s an update!

As we celebrate Christmas together this year, let’s not forget what  it’s really all about! Christmas is thought of as a time of gift giving and getting, about Santa and flying reindeer by the world’s standards. As believers though, we know that Christmas is really about the coming of the Messiah, written about for thousands of years in the old testament. We know that Jesus is the greatest gift mankind could ever receive from a loving and caring God, and that only through Him, could we be saved from eternal separation from God.

Ministry Update:

I would like to give you an update from my ministry. Since mid October, I have been in training with my new company. In my line of work training is a constant, so I have not been able to get out an share in music and testimony for that reason. I am grateful for your understanding.

To The Studio:

Now, I have the time and the ability to get back into the studio and finish my latest EP Project: “I Love To Tell The Story”! So far, I have 2 of the 5 songs completed except for mastering the final tracks. So that leaves me 3 songs to record and get into line to get produced. Each of these songs has a cool Interlude / Bridge / Chorus that I have put my own style onto. Most of the music is the same as the original songs, but I have added just a bit to ’em, so I hope that you will like them. I plan to have this project completed by mid-summer.

To The People:

I plan on playing at different venues at least once or twice per month this year as God provides the opportunity. I will have those dates on my blog calendar as well as my Facebook page.

As I began my solo ministry, 2017 was a fun year with a lot of changes . I have no regrets about starting anew, and I believe that there may be times when I hook up with another group or so for a special opportunity. I look forward to seeing you and hearing how God has impacted your life and how you have been able to share Him with others.

And always FOR HIM!

The whole point of what I’m doing is to glorify Christ. To share His redeeming love and grace! To let all know of the free gift of salvation just for believing and asking Him. I end this post with one of my favorite scriptures:

“That if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says ‘Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved’”. (Romans 10:9-11 NASB)

2018 is just around the corner, let’s start it out together!

“Without the Lord”

Posted on September 5, 2017

The next song off my CD “I Love to Tell the Story” is entitled “Without the Lord”. I have it posted right here on my blog pages, but you can find it on my twitter and facebook pages.

This story of this song goes something like this.. “A prisoner serving time in a penitentiary realizes that he has no hope without the Lord. So he just creates this song and since then has been handed down by many blues artists through the years”.

I’d love to know who really wrote this song so that I could thank him and give him the credit.

I recorded this song with just 2 guitars and my voice. Nothing too fancy, just me playin’ and singin’ for the Lord.Without The LordGospel Blues #MikeWillsMusicPosted in UncategorizedEdit

July brings Holiday’s and Music

Posted on July 4, 2017

I would like to start out by saying “Happy Independence Day” from me to all of you! We thank God for our country and I hope that we all will pray diligently for our leaders. There is a lot of turmoil in this ole world and the devil continues to create havoc while still on this earth. But we don’t have to worry, because his fate is sealed. He’s already defeated and one day soon, Christ will return and we will be able to reign with Him forever and ever! Hallelujah

Summer Styles!

Over the next month or so, I will be changing the way I play for y’all a little when I get to come and share with you. I will be pulling up a chair, grabbing my Martin acoustic guitar and singing and playing with no special effects, no backing tracks and only minimal PA equipment. I will be interacting with you all much more closely.

In addition to the all acoustic format, I will be playing some of my music, but also some older P&W songs that we all know and love. We’ll be singing some old hymns that bring back an era in our minds as we give Him the glory with such poetic excellence.

I’m also going to share my faith each time I sit down in front of you, ’cause Christ has done so much for me that I just want to share that he can do the same for you. Some of you may even have a testimony that you would like to share as well. I’m sure that we all will have great fellowship and worship together!

Summer Schedule:

Sunday July 9th: 0830  | “Street Church”            |OJ’s Diner
Monday July 17:  0700  | Triune Mercy Center  | Homeless B’fast
Sunday July 30:   1030  | RCBC Fellowship Hall | Overcomers Service (Psalms 146)

Details for these events are on my Calendar Page!

Them ole Hymns!

My next  CD, “I love To Tell The Story”, is coming along well…. but just in my mind. As Shirleen and I train up our new puppy “Marlie Rae”, she is taking a lion’s share of the time. I just have not been able to get the next 9 songs down, although I do have the title song recorded but not mixed yet. When it’s ready, you’ll hear it here first!

If you would like for me to come and sing / share and fellowship with you, please contact me via my contact page, my phone of 864-363-8808 or via email at mwillsmusic.gmail.com Posted in HymnsTagged I love to tell the storySummer StylesEdit

My Next Project!

Posted on June 24, 2017

Sing Along With Some of Christian
Music’s Most Famous Hymns!

Baptist Hymnal

I have started work on my next project of music called “I Love To Tell The Story!” That is because “Telling the Story” is what I like to do most. I’m doing it through sharing of the gospel with old Hymns that were written in the 1800’s and that continue to show the love of Christ and how He can change your life! I hope that you can Praise and Worship Him through this next song set!

I am planning on playing original and adapted versions of these old hymns and I’ve also thrown in an old Gospel Blues song as well. A total of 10 or maybe 11 songs, mostly played on my acoustic guitar. Some 3 part harmonies, a special guest or two I’m sure will step in! Expect the contemporary adaptation to just a few of the songs. Instrumental breaks are cut down to certain spots and the greatest emphasis is to create a set of songs that everyone can sing to!

I have already completed the recording of the title song “I Love To Tell The Story”! I will put it up on this webpage after I have re-mixed and mastered the recording. I have come up with some of the oldest and most favorite of old hymns..

Check it out..

I love to tell the story, Love Divine, Sweet Hour of Prayer, Precious Memories, Without the Lord, Are you washed, Wherever He leads, Only Trust Him, The Old Rugged Cross, It is well!

I have adapted: I love to tell the story, Love Divine and the Old Rugged Cross. The song “Without The Lord” is an old blues song.. Pretty simple song “I can’t live my life without the Lord (x2) When I look around and see, what the Lord has done for me, I can ‘t live my life without the Lord”  Pretty cool blues song.

So as I work on this CD, I ask that you pray a prayer for me, “‘Cause I can’t make these songs, without the Lord!”Posted in HymnsTagged Adapted HymnsBaptist HymnsI love to tell the storyEdit

A Yearning for the Word!

Posted on June 6, 2017

As a believer, I am constantly trying to know and yearn for His Word more each day. His Word teaches me that the way to grow closer to Him is to Pray, Study His Word and Share His offer of salvation to anyone who asks. He has given those of us who are saved, His Holy Spirit who guides us and prompts us every day. He gives us the longing that we find in our hearts for God and His Word.

In the Psalms below, I wanted to point out a couple of things that I believe can help us all to have that “yearning” and strong desire that the bible talks about.

A strong desire to know and follow God’s will

Psalm 119:20 (NASB)
20 My soul is crushed with longing After Your ordinances at all times.

Isaiah 26:9 (KJV)
9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

In these 2 verses, the writers are longing deeply for the the Word of God. Not only do they long for understanding it, but know that they must follow it. They know that they must share so that others will learn righteousness.

An understanding that I must rely totally upon God for everything
and that He alone should be my hearts’ desire.

Psalm 73:25 (NKJV)
25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

Psalm 63 (NIV)
1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

Above, we see the strong understanding that we must rely totally on God and that our desire should be focused on what He wants and what is pleasing to Him and Him alone.

God’s Word is Perfect, Pure and Sweeter than Honey

Psalm 19: 7,8, 10 (NASB)
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Psalm 119: 97, 103 – 104 (NASB)
20 My soul is crushed with longing After Your ordinances at all times.97 O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 103 How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way.

The last two verses speak about the perfection of God’s Word! How His Word should be desired more than gold and and how His teachings are sweeter than honey. It is through His Word that we understand the teaching and long for it more everyday of our lives.

Our Application from His Word:
We could start by asking ourselves the following questions!

  1. Do we long so much each day that we are crushed by not spending time in it?
  2. Are we willing to rely upon His word and upon Him for everything in our lives?
  3. Do we believe that His word is perfect and is more desirable to us that gold? ie our own desires, wants and wills.

If we come to the point of total submission to God, believe His Word is worthy to follow and is good for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness, then we are on the first steps to drawing closer to Him, growing in our desire for His Word and knowing that His Word is all we need to guide us in this world.

2 Timothy 3:16 (NASB)
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

My prayer for all of us, is to have a strong, undeniable, unshakable, deep yearning for the Word of God and to want to draw closer to Him and to follow him more and more everyday.Posted in DevotionsTagged Psalm 119Psalm 19Yearning for the wordEdit
