Words and Music: Mike Wills
(Matt 7:13-23 and 25:23)
From the Album: “Through That Door”
Verse 1:
He was alone walkin’ down the highway, Thought life was great, livin’ his own way, He heard a band playin’, singin’ for God, “Are you saved, which path do you trod?”
Verse 2
He listened on as they were singin’, “True life means faith through believin’”. He heard their song and his heart grew sad, ’cause he did not know it, yet he thought he had.
Chorus 1:
For small is the gate that leads to life, few will find it, most won’t follow His light. Many will cry “Lord, didn’t we serve you?” He will say “Leave me, I never knew you!
So, don’t believe those false teachers, they’ll trick you and deceive you! They’ll say there’s more than one way, but Jesus is the only way!
Verse 3
The message was clear, he needed the Son, he confessed his sin, the battle was won! Only in Jesus was he made complete, now he was walkin’ down a new street!
Chorus 2
For small is the gate that leads to life. It can only be found in Jesus Christ Receive Him today and in the end, He will say “Welcome, my child and friend!”
The Story:
Years ago I was playing in a band that mostly ministered to the homeless, downtrodden and addicted people. We were playing at a “Fishfry” for the homeless in Greenville when a man heard our music and message and walked up and listened to the songs we were singing. He realized that he was not saved and while he was there, accepted Christ as his savior. This song is dedicated to those who need Jesus and those willing to share the Gospel of Christ.
